Lavazza and Roland Garros: the partnership continues until 2025

25-05-2022 • EVENTS

Coffee and tennis: united by passion, the pursuit of excellence and shared values.

This year too we are partnering with Roland Garros, one of the most iconic tournaments in the world of tennis: with our global brand Lavazza, we once again bring the excellence of Italian coffee to the clay courts of Paris and renew our collaboration with the French tournament until 2025.

When the partnership agreement was signed back in 2015, both Lavazza and the French Tennis Federation expressed their desire for a long-term commitment. This wish has been fulfilled, because the fact that both our Group and the great tennis of Roland Garros share and promote values like the pursuit of excellence, innovation and, of course, passion, has created a lasting bond between us.

«Our investment in the world of sport is a strategic development opportunity for Lavazza Group», said Giuseppe Lavazza, Group Vice President. «Partnering with Roland Garros for seven years is in line with our internationalisation strategy and consolidates our presence in one of our most important markets, offering all tennis enthusiasts the authentic experience of Italian coffee in all its forms. We are pleased to renew our longstanding partnership with this tournament, with which we share a common goal: transforming this internationally famous event into a unique experience for spectators».

France is a strategic country for us and the second-ranking market for our Group after Italy. It was here that we opened Lavazza’s first foreign branch 40 years ago, starting the internationalisation process that today sees us with a presence in 140 markets, 9 manufacturing plants in 6 countries, and operations in all segments of the business.

Our presence at the Roland Garros tournament also provides an opportunity to present our excellent 2021 results and to tell the story of our commitment to sustainability, which goes back a long way and continues today. With the formation of the Lavazza Foundation in 2004, we began to give a structure to our commitment to social, environmental and economic sustainability, which started with support for coffee-producing communities through measurable projects that now benefit over 136,000 coffee growers in 20 countries across three continents.

Our commitment also continues through an environmental sustainability strategy involving impact measurement and reduction actions (reducing the environmental impact of manufacturing plants and developing reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging, based on improvement plans in key areas for the company’s business model) and plans to offset residual emissions that cannot be reduced.
