Few artists express the cultural relationship between Italy and France as well as Amedeo Modigliani, to whom the Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris devotes a new exhibition organised with our contribution.
The exhibition “Amedeo Modigliani. A painter and his dealer” runs until next January in the prestigious museum on the Seine, once part of the Tuileries Palace, and has been organised with the support of our Group, which after participating in the acquisition of “La Pétroleuse Vaincue” by Italian sculptor Giacomo Ginotti on behalf of the Musée d’Orsay, confirms its commitment to the world of art and underscores the strong ties between Italy and France.
The numerous works exhibited explore the relationship between the artist from Livorno and his French dealer, Paul Guillaume, focusing on the period in which Modigliani began painting again, spurred on by Giullaume’s passionate promotion of his work, after a lengthy period during which he devoted his efforts almost exclusively to sculpture.
