Connections and cultures at the core of ‘Let’s Blend!’
The photographs feature thirty-six protagonists from the world of Lavazza, portrayed in the four choral images of a Calendar divided into seasons. A series of tableaux vivants in the form of triptychs, celebrating the concept of connection seen through the lens of one of the most famous photographers from the continent where coffee originated. The luminous colours of the images reference Western African culture, but the composition is inspired by the tradition of European Renaissance painting. Diop’s images embody some key moments in our story, as well as featuring some significant objects chosen to symbolise the Calendar’s main themes: Blending Times, to unite personalities of different generations; Blending Roots, where each subject showcases their own origin; Blending Cultures, a convergence of diverse traditions and cultures; and Blending Minds, to blend complementary attitudes, skills and professionals together.
The Calendar’s faces and stories
Every triptych features a prominent personality linked to the world of Lavazza, surrounded by the protagonists chosen for the story that leads up to the celebration of a hundred and thirty years since our company was founded. Jannik Sinner, Massimiliano Caiazzo, Whoopi Goldberg, Tullio Solenghi, Big Mama, photographer Omar Victor Diop and Sara Gama appear with Ambassadors Daniela Fatarella from Save the Children, architect Cino Zucchi and Chefs Norbert Niederkofler, Federico Zanasi and Chiara Pavan. These names feature alongside professionals with various functions in our Group and also Luigi, the little robot starring in Lavazza's most recent campaign – “Pleasure Makes us Human” – who represents the more futuristic side of our global brand but is also rich in sentiment.
